CheckZap is a desktop application for check printing and check management on macOS and Windows. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

We collect only the data needed to operate app features you use.

Email address and user account ID (for sign-in, authentication, and account access).

App content data

Payees, payee categories, check history, and other app records that you choose to store or sync.

Financial-related app data

Check-related values may be processed when you use cloud-enabled features (such as cloud sync, AI pay-stub parsing, or remote print workflows).

Local device data

Bank routing number and bank account number are stored locally on your device for check creation. These full sensitive numbers are not intended to be synced to cloud services.

4. Optional feature data sharing

Some features send data off-device only when enabled or used by you.

Cloud sync

Selected records are synced to backend infrastructure to support account-based restore and multi-device continuity.

AI pay-stub import

Uploaded pay-stub files/text may be sent to AI processing services to extract payroll/check information.

Remote print

Generated check PDF content may be uploaded to remote print infrastructure for print job delivery.

5. How we use data

We use data for:

App functionality and core operations
Account authentication and security
Data sync/restore and user-requested cloud features
Customer support and issue resolution
Service reliability and fraud/security prevention

6. Tracking and advertising

CheckZap does not use your data for cross-app tracking.

CheckZap does not use third-party advertising SDKs for behavioral ads.

7. Legal basis and consent

Where required by law, we process data based on:

Your consent for optional cloud/AI features
Legitimate interests in security, reliability, and abuse prevention

8. Data retention

Local data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.

Cloud-stored data is retained while your account is active, unless deletion is requested or required by law.

Temporary processing data for operational workflows may be retained for limited periods needed for service/security.
